Le Coq Sportif 1984 Turbotec vintage sneaker ad @ The Deffest

Le Coq Sportif Turbotec vintage sneaker ad

October 26, 2018

Here's a 1984 vintage ad for Le Coq Sportif's Turbotec running shoe that creates a "Wave-Like form (which) increases traction." 🌊👟 Interesting concept but we may need to bring mythbusters out of retirement on this one.

Ad info is below:

Le Coq Sportif introduces the ultimate in shock absorption

(with a revolutionary new way to use polyethylene)

Turbotec by Le Coq Sportif

Le Coq Sportif announces the most advanced technology in the world of running shoes. A unique dual-density poly-ethylene composite has been developed that has extraordinary shock absorption qualities. While expensive, this method of using polyethylene material achieves a much higher level of performance and comfort over conventional shoes.

A) Traditional midsoles take the full impact directly on the heel.

B) Turbotec's black high density sections disperse shock while gray low density sections absorb it.

The dual-density polyethylene sole

Polyethylene itself is a superior shock absorber. Now Le Coq Sportif has invented the dual-density polyethylene composite that disperses and absorbs shock while minimizing loss of memory or shape. This composite is integrated in a midsole design that progressively distributes and absorbs shock through the entire area of the sole. Here's how: The black areas (1) are of a higher density polyethylene that disperse the impact of footstrike. There is virtually no "memory loss" even after many miles. The gray areas (2) are of a lower density and absorb the dispersed shock while at the same time providing maximum flexibility. Progressively dispersed and absorbed, shock is minimized. The runner senses a smoothness and stability on all surfaces.

Introducing Turbotec

Le Coq Sportif takes the technology of shock absorption even further in its new top-of-the-line running shoe, Turbotec. Individual, grooved studs (3) on the edges of Turbotec's outer sole contract on impact and absorb the shock progressively as the foot moves forward. A wave-like form in the middle of the sole absorbs residual shock while maintaining traction. Other Turbotec innovations exclusive to Le Coq Sportif in-clude: (4) Heel Stabilizer for maximum lat-eral support (5) Free Protect to eliminate abrasion of the achilles tendon (6) Easy Flex for added comfort during forward roll (7) Free Form insole for residual shock absorption and perspiration control.

In the long run, it's worth it

Turbotec is the ideal, all-around running shoe that provides maximum shock absorp-tion on a variety of surfaces. Perfect for cross country, it is also highly recom-mended for training after a marathon when extra pro-tection is needed. At just $100, Turbotec represents the ultimate in Le Coq Sportif's running shoe tech-nology.

• Individual grooved studs contract on impact. • Wave-like form increases traction.
